West Covina resident helps find cure for muscular dystrophy

For nearly two decades, John Hughes has been collecting donations to raise find a cure for an incurable disease that struck someone close and valued in his heart: his granddaughter Tiffany.
At 3 years, Tiffany has been diagnosed as suffering from Duchenne powerfully built, a genetic disorder that weakens the muscles all at once.
"We do not know what it was," said Hughes, a resident of West Covina.
While watching a commercial for the Federation of muscular dystrophy (MDA) Telethon Jerry Lewis, his son Dan called to put together to get as much information as possible to help Tiffany.
"It can happen to anyone, this disease," Hughes said. "Rarely children who notice that they can not begin to walk."
One way to help the cause of MDA was to raise funds to Dan, a former police officer West Covina, began organizing charitable events in West Covina Elks halls occupy and Cameron Park, where they had breakfast with pancakes, Chili Cook - Offs and carnival rides, with common gifts to the MDA.
